Learning goals
At the end of Module 1A, the students have knowledge of the contents, structure and accessibility of patent documents, so that they:
- can make a contents analysis of a document
- have knowledge of general classification techniques
- have knowledge of different retrieval techniques

Instructor
Aalt van de Kuilen joined Solvay on 1st April 1980 as a chemist at the age of 23. In 1989, he was given the opportunity by Solvay to work part-time (1.5 days a week) as Chemistry teacher. In 1993 he moved into the Patent Department inside Solvay Pharmaceuticals. During this period he became a member of the Dutch Patent Information User Group and soon afterwards a Board Member. From September 2002 onwards, he became responsible for all Scientific Information. Since May 2014, Aalt is working as an independent consultant for Patent Information.
